| Thallus tufted, to 2 cm long; fibrils very dense, usually short (c.0.5 mm long), very few c.2 mm long. Medulla narrow, dense; axis 1/3–3/5 width of branch. Apothecia usually to 10 mm diam.; fibrils dense on margin, often in several rows, some forked; lower surface with dense short fibrils. CHEMISTRY: Cortex containing usnic acid. Medulla K–; containing scabrosins. | ||
